Will Eric Holder’s Perjury Cost Him His Job?

by Doug Book

On Monday evening it was learned that Attorney General Eric Holder lied to a congressional committee while testifying about his knowledge of the Obama regime’s Operation Fast and Furious “gunwalking” scandal.

Memos that Department of Justice operatives directed to Holder himself leave no doubt that the DOJ was receiving constant updates on the Operation as early as mid-2010.

During his May 3rd testimony before the Grassley/Issa congressional committee, Holder was asked when he had first learned of Operation Fats and Furious, to which he responded, “I’m not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Fruious for the first time over the last few weeks.”

That was a lie. Documents detailing the existence and progress of Operation Fast and Furious were directed to Holder by Michael F. Walther, the head of the National Drug Intelligence Center, and by Holder’s Assistant Attorney General, Lanny Breuer, in 2010.

A heavily redacted July 5th, 2010, memo from Walther to Holder details the work of the Phoenix Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) working in conjunction with the ATF on Operation Fast and Furious. And this was a “weekly report.”

A November 2010 memorandum from assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer to Holder further updates Fast and Furious, even reporting current indictments and the number of firearms already known to have “walked” across the Mexican border.

It seems to be an undeniable fact that Eric Holder has committed perjury. And no excuse that the operation had simply slipped his mind is likely to work, except of course with the always supportive and understanding mainstream media.

We know what the consequences would be for a Republican attorney general who had he lied so blatantly and deliberately before a congressional committee. But will Holder lose his job over his perjured testimony?

Perhaps a more pertinent question: will any mainstream media sources other than FOX News and Sharyl Attkisson of CBS even carry the story?

Yet with or without “old media” participation, the drip, drip, drip of Fast and Furious leaks threatens to eventually drown the Obama White House. The tragedy is that hundreds now dead, including at least two American law enforcement agents, will not be around to see it thanks to the regime’s gun-running operation.
