If we had a president in the White House who understood that we are at war with a crazed faction of Islam, and was willing to act on that belief, there would be no question about how we should deal with people who give aid and comfort to the enemy — they’d be tried for treason and when found guilty stood up before a firing squad.
Julian Assange and his fellow conspirator Pvt. Bradley Manning allegedly betrayed the United States, gave aid and comfort to the terrorists who seek to destroy the United States, and if found guilty they deserve nothing less than death sentences for their unspeakable crimes.
Their pitifully lame excuse that they were merely trying to provide information to the American people that was being improperly withheld from them by the government is on a par with Benedict Arnold’s claim that he was merely trying to inform the British on information the American people believed they deserved to have.
On the contrary, the public does not have the right to know everything — some information needs to be kept secret if the public’s safety is to be assured. Consumers do not need to know the gory details of how sausage is made, nor do the people need to be made aware of all of the details of what is being done to protect them.
Nobody ever demanded that those scientists engaged in building the atomic bomb that ended the war with Japan should do their work openly and share their secrets with the public, and nobody has the right to decide which secrets the public has a need to know.
The release of these so-called WikiLeaks documents has put the American people at risk, as Secretary of State Clinton has said, and the two culprits deserve to be made to pay the price for their treasonous actions.
Pvt. Bradley Manning, the soldier who is alleged to have illegally obtained the documents, is already behind bars where, if justice is to be served, he will remain for the rest of his life.
Assange’s punishment is yet to be determined, but it should be equally as harsh, if indeed he escapes the hangman’s noose, although he should not.
According to news reports, the Feds are attempting to learn whether Assange violated any criminal laws, most notably those covered under the Espionage Act.
Both the Justice (DOJ) and Defense Departments say they are conducting “an active ongoing criminal investigation” of the entire matter, but there is no question of the serious nature of the crimes committed by Assange and Manning — by their despicable actions they have plunged a dagger into the hearts of the American people.
Moreover, the FBI is currently looking into the activities of all those who had come into possession of the subject documents, especially those who provided secret information to Assange’s WikiLeaks organization. If they are found to be culpable they should be harshly punished.
There are problems involved in prosecuting the two men. Legal experts warn that prosecuting those charged with illegally leaking classified documents is difficult for a number of reasons, not the least being persuading foreign governments to hand Assange — who lives abroad — over to U.S. prosecutors.
It should be kept in mind that Assange and Manning are not the only entities who have put the American people at risk. Those in the media who couldn’t wait to publish the information given them by the pair are equally guilty of endangering the American people.
Indeed, it has been reported that DOJ is warning that media organizations could well be subject to prosecution, although that is said not to be in the cards because Justice fears possible violations of the First Amendment, and is fully aware that it has never prosecuted such a matter.
According to Kenneth Wainstein, former assistant attorney general in the national security division, “Whenever you’re talking about a media organization, the department is going to look very closely to ensure that any prosecution doesn’t undermine the valid First Amendment functioning of the press.”
Jeffrey H. Smith, a former CIA general counsel, noted that Assange is the DOJ’s target. “I’m confident that the Justice Department is figuring out how to prosecute him,” Smith told reporters.
They need to go further than that.
They need to be figuring out how to hang him.

Believe one might see more of this type of action as the GOP becomes stronger and backed by the people. Let's not forget that the Obama Administration was given the opportunity to have a say in what Wikileaks released. Obama refused the offer and now you want to prosecute or, rather, persecute Julian Assange after, what I consider, tacit approval from Obama to proceed at will.

Who are you believing when you say it is not Top Secret information? The system was hacked by someone that had obviously been given a level of Security clearance and Top Secret clearance is given to anyone that handles, transports, or couriers that information. There is a difference between right to know and need to know. Top Secret clearance is common within the Pentagon. What I want to know is who this PFC is related to. It has caused this country damage. The State Dept is to conduct the people's business with foreign nation states…OUR business. The Secretary of State makes the regulation and gets this regulation out to the areas of National Security. It is the sections with in that; leadership heads need to be handed to them on a platter.

The WikiLeaks are a result of an offshore hacker leading the effort to gather information from the World Wide Web and other sources. Any information passed to the WWW is public domain. To think that the information is secure is usually based upon a false premise. Information can be secured but every system, method and ingress or egress point is vulnerable.
So now, the US politicians are reacting, ducking and hiding until this incident passes over.
What can you learn from this?
US Policies are not what they should be nor are US diplomatic directives which are policy driven. Our nations will enforced upon other nations will meet resistance. How much say do American taxpayers have in what elected officials do on behalf of America? How much power do politicians exert in their diplomatic seats? What is reasonable?
Still, anyone can argue that the President needs to have power to turn off the Internet (Rockefeller ~ Snowe) at his discretion. Ludicrous and foolish and that's the level of control that the US Government is exerting over its citizenry. It's too late and often just as we experienced 9/11 it was too late. There are other historical moments when the United States ignored intelligence, data, indicators and expert advice and we found that it was too late. Pearl Harbor is a classic example.
The WikiLeaks should send a wake up call to every American. Why are our elected officials speaking, writing and acting this way? They are supposed to be DIPLOMATS. Our national policies affect behavior and behavior is reflected upon by every nation, government and person. Then to consider our behaviors past and present, do they reflect the best possible image? Sadly, the US military images leaked by Wiki Leaks reveal a negative image of armed services personnel.
Pundits will argue that Internet security is lacking. Too a degree they are correct but let's put it into perspective. Speed, accuracy and security are three defined points in any communications form that are imperfect. Two of the qualities are usually obtainable with high degrees of success but not three. One can compromise another. Handing over absolute control (ability of the President to turn OFF the Internet) is not in anyone's best interest. Absolute power corrupts and the US media is a classic example of the elite driven media driving American politics and influencing Americans with propaganda. Americans need also question why most security appliances and hardware is readily manufactured in China and then concurrently why does anyone ponder over how the Chinese hackers broke into US military sites and the White House systems?
Common sense and acting within reason has escaped the abilities of those in power running our Governments.
The powerful and elite received a wakeup call too that was indifferent to their threats to sue and now arrest the man behind WikiLeaks. I am not defending his actions nor am I condemning him or his fellow members. What should be condemned and changed is how our Government acts, behaves and errantly creates many of the problems we endure while representing the interests of "We the People."
Our Government and Corporations have crafted and reacted solely in their best interests with the creation of the global economy. This didn't occur overnight and has been in the making for decades. We've seen the signs or indicators of it and today many families are experiencing the reality of the Global Market. When folks reflect upon this and the current situation and outcrying over the WikiLeaks one can't find it somewhat amusing. Our leaders want to arrest, incarcerate and execute those behind the WikiLeaks as terrorists and yet for our leaders to have crafted and influenced as they have with the Global Market; and then not to know how to behave globally should send a message to everyone that our leaders are in conflict. We simply can't continue with the status quo nor can they position themselves as they are currently doing to placate the American public with job creation and promises to fix the hacker/whistle blower problem of Wiki Leaks by execution.
Our problems are serious, deep rooted and yet our biggest problem remains our Government.

First, in a Constitutional Republic ruled by the People, the government has no right to with hold information from the People. The very concept of State's Secrets is crap! A government of The People needs to be able to conduct business down the center line of Main Street. If the government has something to hide, then it must be doing something it should not be doing.
One needs to realize the distinction between the government and the military. Since the Military is always doing things it should not be doing, it tends to have a lot of secrets, but the Military is NOT the government. The government is merely the mechanism that runs the State (Country) through its various branches,such as the Post Office. Unfortunately, the Military is one of those branches.
If one reads the words of the Founding Fathers, it is clear that it was never intended for us to have a standing army. We can thank both Lincoln and Truman for the mess we have today. It is important to remember that a Standing Army serves only one purpose, and that is Offensive Action.
We do not need a Standing Army to defend this Nation. There are about 3 million members of the Military and about 150 Million Armed Americans that are the Militia! A standing Army serves no defensive purpose.
The Military got caught with it pants down, doing what it wasn't supposed to be doing. The Truth is often inconvenient, but speaking the truth is never wrong and the Truth can never be a crime!
