Democrats Who Called for Bush’s Attorney General to Quit: Where Are They Now?

by Kevin “Coach” Collins

Where are the Democrats demanding Eric Holder’s resignation for lying to Congress about the Fast and Furious investigation? They are nowhere to be found.

Democrats always use a double standard when they whine about Republicans. They try to investigate every Republican they can on the flimsiest of charges specifically to make all investigations look petty and politically motivated. They do this to inoculate the criminals in their own party from future investigations into the genuine criminal activity they know will occur.

A brief comparison of the phony “charges” brought against Bush’s Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and the serious charges Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder faces makes this point.

Gonzales was accused of “improperly” using the Patriot Act to uncover personal information about American citizens; Holder has ordered his office not to prosecute Black Panthers caught on tape intimidating white voters, referring to the Panthers are a part of “my people.”

Not even the cynical Democrats could find a way to blame Gonzales for deaths as a result of his actions, yet Holder’s Fast and Furious scam has reportedly killed thousands.

Holder has perjured himself in Congressional hearings, and Democrats tried to make a criminal case of Gonzales’ firing a number of his Assistant U.S. Attorneys which has always been the prerogative of any Attorney General.

Keep these points in mind as you read these quotes from hypocritical Democrats about Gonzales’ need to resign for his “crimes.”

  • Barack Obama, “subverted justice to promote a political agenda”;
  • Dennis Kucinich, “[Gonzales is]…nothing but a prop for this Administration to bypass the Constitution”;
  • Hillary Clinton, “[Gonzales resignation is] long overdue, and so is the appointment of an Attorney General who will put the rule of law and our Constitution above partisan politics”;
  • Mark Pryor, “when the Attorney General lies to a United States Senator…it’s time for that Attorney General to go”;
  • Nancy Pelosi, “has lost the trust of the American people”
  • Adam Schiff  ”[what Gonzales has done] makes me ill to see what has happened”;
  • Harry Reid, “It’s foolishness if [President Bush] hangs on to him”;
  • Maria Cantwell, “I am convinced that Gonzales has not carried out his duties as Attorney General with a blind eye and a balanced hand”;
  • John Kerry, “there must be accountability from the top down”;
  • Patrick “Leaky” Leahy, “I don’t think he can be effective”;
  • Chris Dodd “…egregious lapses in judgment”;
  • Dianne Feinstein, “I believe he should step down…the nation is not well served by this”;
  • Ted Kennedy, “his resignation is long overdue”;and
  • Bill Nelson,”lost his credibility.”
