We were disappointed when incoming Government Reform and Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa seemed to sidle up to Barack Obama by saying there was “not a chance” he would consider investigations that might lead to impeachment, at least “at this point.” Issa channeled Chris Matthews in his most recent pronouncement to reassure his implacable political foes.
On election night, just as House Minority Leader John Boehner finished his tearful victory speech, Issa told reporters on a conference call, “I want to prove the pundits wrong.” As he saw it, he said, “My job is not to bring down the president. My job is to make the president a success.”
No, that is not the job of a watchdog chairman. That is Chris Matthews’ job. Those less slavishly devoted to Obama than the talking head with the tingling leg are more interested in serving their defined roles, uncovering corruption, and making the United States a success.
The MSNBC pundit told Joe Scarborough:
Matthews: Yeah, well, you know what? I want to do everything I can to make this thing work, this new presidency work, and I think that –
Scarborough: Is that your job? You just talked about being a journalist!
Matthews: Yeah, it is my job. My job is to help this country…To make this work successfully, because this country needs a successful presidency.
As part of the plan for making Obama a success, Issa claims, “We’ve been hired to take America back to the middle.” Issa said. He could not more dangerously misread the message of this election.
According to Politico, Issa “struck a bipartisan tone, promising to work with…Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reform.”
That is like working with Adolf Hitler on civil liberties reform. (Obligatory Media Matters disclaimer: I am not equating Frank with Hitler, although members of the SA may have frequented the same clubs as Frank, et. al.)
Issa stated he may investigate the Post Office’s financial troubles.
On Wednesday, Issa added he may end up investigating President George W. Bush. “When we look at the failures of Freddie [Mac] and Fannie [Mae], the Countrywide scandal, those all began during President Bush’s time,” Issa said. “The enemy is the bureaucracy, not necessarily the current occupant of the White House.”
This tone has gladdened the hearts of liberals, who are offering unsolicited advice to the man who will wield subpoena power. Former Clinton aide Paul Begala had some helpful words for Issa. He said, “I don’t think he’s likely to fall into that trap” of investigating too broadly. “His base and his leadership, writ large, they can really hurt him here,” Begala cautioned. According to The Daily Caller, “Begala said the smart strategy would be to put impeachment entirely off the table, as Nancy Pelosi did facing calls for Bush’s impeachment from her own liberal base when Democrats took the House in 2006.”
If Issa followed this course, it would certainly boost Democratic fortunes. But the only way Issa can satisfy the pundit class is by submitting to a political neutering followed by hara-kiri. And the only way he can fail to “bring down the president” is by ignoring his constitutional duty to investigate every credible allegation of fraud, abuse, and illegality committed by this administration, any one of which should bring the Obama administration to an abrupt surcease.
Floyd Brown has laid out many of Obama’s crimes, which if proven could lead to impeachment:
Bribes were offered to Congressman Joe Sestak and former Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff not to run for Senate. This is a felony and clearly an impeachable offense. Inspector General of the Corporation for National Community Service, Gerald Walpin, was fired by Obama in a desperate attempt to cover up the corruption in a grant given to Obama supporter Kevin Johnson. Firing a government whistleblower uncovering corruption is an impeachable offense.
Thankfully, Issa has indicated he will pursue the Sestak investigation. But these additional outrages, the Black Panther case dismissal, and his own extensive reporting on covert government propaganda demand full vetting – and all of them are weightier offenses than Post Office losses or troubles at the Mineral Service. It is his constitutional duty to press forward until the truth comes out and let the consequences see to themselves.
Congressman Issa is a good man, a tough fighter, and a responsive representative. We intend to keep up the pressure for full investigations – and we need your help. Tell the Congress that has just been swept into office on a tide of tea not to preemptively surrender its authority or turn a blind eye to this president’s violations of the law.

The GOP House and Senate should send Health care repeal legislation to the President every week for the next two years. That action alone will solidify the conservative base and counteract the persistent abuse of conservative American voters from the President and his minions over the last two years. To make good on commitments republicans should take the long view, meaning gridlock with democratic socialists is inevitable. So you say we will never repeal Obamacare with a Marxist in the White House? Well, by 2012 we will have thoroughly exposed the tremendous failure it is and have an alternate plan. Another avenue of gridlock we should travel down is Obamas fiscal policy. Yes we will just table the Bills and the point will be to expose all those Democrats in government supporting Obama with his Marxist attitude and policies. After his speech I have no faith that Obama will change course and continue to do all he can to "move forward' in his Marxist fashion with total disregard of America, its citizens, and all they traditionally stand for. So he will veto any fiscal cuts implemented this year. Obama and the democrats no doubt know the electorate delivered a clear verdict against Democratic fiscal policy, demanding we go to the political right. Therefore republicans can not move to the left to co-operate with Obama and the Democrats on a whole range of issues including but not limited to; lowering the debt ceiling, no U.N. treaties, repeal health care, investigate czars, stop funding numerous extraneous groups, cut government, agency and personnel. That would be inline with the awakening of the populous that the GOP must abide by and speak for in 2012, while being in direct contrast of the Obama liberal social agenda!

Let's get a bill through the house and senate to make it mandatory that birth certificates must be presented for all in power at this moment (including the President and his cabinet) and for future all that run for President and congress people. Well what do you expect from a California politician? If he were from almost any other state, we could expect his constituents to straighten him out, but sadly this won't happen. California, the land of fruit and nuts……they just voted Brown back in as governor. Gee I wonder why CA is broke, Brown is the guy who voted in all those ridiculous teacher benefits the last time he was governor! But I digress…..Anyway, I was curious about Issa, so I googled him. Issa was born in Ohio but is of Lebanese descent. Not saying Lebanon is a bad place, it was at one time governed by Christians. But the gov't was not strong, and the "religion of peace" took over. There are still many Christians there. I don't know how he got a first name like Darrell, but the name Issa (Isaac) is used mostly by muslims, and some Christians too. ( my neighbor is Christian Lebanese). So Darrell Issa could be a muslim. Could it be that he feels like he has some sort of kinship with Obama? Just sayin….
If Issa fails to do his duty, then I believe it would be time to investigate him. There have been far too many "deals" made in DC in an attempt to 'make the president a success" as it is. I think anyone suspect who would be so openly derilect in his duty to the American people.

This morning, Monroe County Sheriff’s burst through the door of Lt. Commander Fitzpatrick’s residence and arrested him for failing to appear in court last Friday, a date the Monroe County court failed to notify Mr. Fitzpatrick of before he learned on Monday via the local press that an arrest warrant was issued for missing the court date.
Monroe County officials made no effort to contact Fitzpatrick prior to kicking his door in Wednesday morning, according to all available information. But less than an hour before Sheriff’s burst in, Fitzpatrick was reportedly on the phone with the Knoxville office of the FBI, whom he claims advised that they had opened an investigation into Monroe County government corruption.
Friday’s court date was a hearing on the request to withdraw representation by Fitzpatrick’s attorney, Steve Pidgeon, a request reportedly denied by the court, once again according to local news reports.
On Monday the 25th, Knoxnews issued a report stating that Special Circuit Judge Jon Blackwood ordered Fitzpatrick arrested and held without bond until his Dec. 1 trial. The press knew about the Friday hearing before Fitzpatrick did, and was reporting the arrest warrant before Fitzpatrick had been notified of the court date or arrest warrant.
As of this writing, Fitzpatrick stands accused of crimes, but has no official accuser. Normally, for criminal charges to be brought evidence of a crime must exist and there must be witnesses to the crime committed, or a complainant, an accuser. Fitzpatrick stands accused, but with no known accuser.
