Arizona Fights Back over UN Human Rights Report

Arizona is fighting back against the Obama administration’s decision to haul her state before the United Nations Human Rights Council. Governor Jan Brewer has penned a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Friday expressing her “concern and indignation” at the administration’s report to the UN, which cited a federal lawsuit against Arizona’s immigration bill as part of its efforts to fight human rights violations. This author was the first person to report that provision of the administration’s brief.

“Apparently, the federal government is trying to make an international human rights case out of S.B. 1070 on the heels of already filing a federal court case against the State of Arizona,” the governor wrote in a line that echoed the opening of my own piece.

She rightly noted the Orwellian aspect of a sitting president appealing to a world government to quash a popular state law. “The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a State of the United States to ‘review’ by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional,” she wrote. Brewer vowed to challenge the report all the way to the UN:

I again respectfully request that you amend the Report to remove Paragraph 95 relating to the State of Arizona and S.B. 1070. If you choose not to do so, the State of Arizona will monitor the proceedings and assert any rights it has in this process. Be assured that the State of Arizona will fight any attempt by the U.S. Department of State and the United Nations to interfere with the duly enacted laws of the State of Arizona in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.

A little-discussed portion of her letter pins the blame for the increased deaths of illegal aliens where it belongs: squarely on the shoulders of Barack Obama and his Open Borders allies.

The previous administration built a border fence securing the border near San Diego, California, eliminating that as a viable port of entry. Brewer noted Obama’s “failure to secure the entire border” and his decision “not to enforce major portions of our federal immigration laws” has encouraged alien traffickers to enter through the Arizona desert, leading to at least 170 dead illegals along that state’s border so far this year.

The letter challenged Hillary to compare human rights conditions in Arizona with those in member nations of the UN Human Rights Council “and publish that comparison.” We’ll be looking forward to that book, which will probably come out the same day the administration begins holding all its back room negotiations on C-SPAN.

The only thing missing in her gutsy letter is mention of the human rights violations American citizens face because of Obama’s de facto amnesty program, such as paramilitary clashes, drug trafficking, murders, increased gang activity, rampant kidnappings, sexual assaults, crime, welfare use, home invasions, overcrowded schools, hospital closures caused by soaring medical costs, job losses, bulging prison detentions, bilingual status, property damage, environmental degradation, and overburdened infrastructure.

Obama turns a blind eye to American suffering in hopes of granting amnesty to millions of poorly educated welfare recipients (or, as they’re typically known, Democratic voters).

Instead, he continues to legally harass Sheriff Joe Arpaio. On Thursday, Eric Holder gave a second ultimatum for Arpaio to participate in his own star chamber proceedings.

Brewer is standing up for her state and the whole country — and not merely on the immigration issue. Although few media outlets have covered it, I reported last week that the remainder of Obama’s report to the UN Human Rights Council establishes new categories of “rights” for the UN to enforce, including the “right” to gay “marriage” and military service, ObamaCare, card-check union registration, taxpayer-funded daycare, bilingual education, race-based voting schemes, and Affirmative Action. Three foreign nations will then draw up a plan for the United States to follow, in order to implement these “rights” — and check up on our progress four years from now, regardless of whether Barack Obama is president. The body reserves the right to “decide on the measures it would need to take in case of persistent non-cooperation.”

The Left has increasingly used foreign law to promote its agenda, which the vast majority of Americans reject. In this report, he appealed for international socialists to help foist his agenda on the American people. Glenn Beck‘s “Restoring Honor” rally and Brewer’s letter show he will not succeed without a fight. I’m gratified if my reporting played some small role in this rebellion.

Very encouraging to see Jan Brewer continue to fight this injustice to Arizona. It is right that this law passed be upheld against ILLEGAL immigration.

    • Ilovemytruck says:

I agree with you and now if more of the states would stand up for their state and their people. Most of the states have governors who are weak and should be voted out as the members of congress and the house and everyone else who refuse to listen to what the people want.

I live in Oregon and we had an innocent man stabbed and killed just walking home this week-end and another man stabbed in front of the bowling alley. The illegal are destroying our country along with the elected officials and we the people need to take our country back.

    • efcorbett says:

You're absolutely correct, Runner45! Jan Brewer has guts and is not afriad to let people know it. More power to her; I'm pulling for her. Right is right, and wrong is wrong; and ILLEGALS coming into the US daily is just wrong! If they want to come here, let them do it the right way – as legals.

  2. Ilovemytruck says:

Just how do Obama and all the other elected officials think they can try and stop a law that AZ passed and that the citizens want and need. The ranchers are having their property destroyed, ranchers are being killed, drugs are coming into this country by the illegal. The drug lords are killing other immigrants just for refusing to pack their drugs.

The federal law is not working because the elected officials want the votes of the illegal BUT you have to be a citizen to vote. They are costing the tax payer for medical, having all them kids, getting welfare, food stamps, and anything else that is free.

It is time for our government and elected leaders to stand up for the citizens and if they don't want to do it they need to be voted out and that includes Obama. He is thinking about using his Presidential powers and bypass Congress and give the illegal immunity. Time for all of them to go.

  3. lel2007 says:

My prays are with Arizona and Jan Brewer. Not an easy task fighting the imperial presidency of communist borak obama and his liberal gang. Unbelievable despicable federal action against it's own people.
I also pray that come November the democrat felons, illegal immigrants, and dead can be out voted.

  4. Shucksters says:

And who is the UN to do anything??? We need to get out of the UN and kick their tails out of NY, NY. Only commies, thugs and crooks belong in the UN. Why would any clear thinking American want to belong to the UN? Throw out the UN and outlaw all unions in the USA! Send all the commies somewhere they will be appreciated, like Cuba.

  5. JDarrow says:

This is about the lowest form of pond scum I have ever seen. We all need to back Gov. Brewer and stand behind what America stands for. A nation of laws not a nation of men. ILLEGAL MEANS ILLEGAL. LOOK IT UP IN THE DICTIONARY MORONS! My family was one of the earliest settlers in the nation and I am very angry over this. Stop the traffic and then sort out the hard working families from the drug cartels. I work with a lot of foreign citizens and they all have visas to work here. Why can't the Mexicans, etc. do the same? Why are they any different than any other foreign worker? This is preferential treatment.

  6. ExCop says:

As a 43 year law enforcement veteran who served as the Police Chief of a city just 1 mile from the Mexican border I laud Governor Brewer and the citizens of Arizona for their stance. Mr. Obama is making a mockery out of the United States Constitution, is derelict in his duty to protect us from foreign invasion, is inviting further terrorist acts on our soil, and is not representing the majority of U S citizens on any issue. He is both incompetent and damaging to this nation. The elections of November 2010 and 2012 are critical to the future of this nation. Absent a turnaround we are destined to be nothing more than a third world socialist country….a heck of a legacy for us who fought in uniform to protect this nation to leave to our children and grandchildren. Obama and his minions need to go, through any lawful means necessary, and the sooner the better. He is nothing more than an arrogant, self serving leftist with an anti- United States agenda.

  7. Obama is begging to be impeached. I say gratify his masochistic tendencies.

  8. Ed2101 says:

Maybe it's time for the State Governors to retake control of their National Guard units. Arizona and the 22 other states considering similar legislation may have to defend themselves against UN troops trying to enforce UN mandates.

  9. KTempler says:

We've got your back AZ. The Texas militia are on their way with guns to serve and protect. Let em cross!

  10. GeraldStephens says:

    IMPEACHMENT…

Lamar S Smith, ranking minority member of the House Judiciary Committee, should immediately upon resuming the session, file a motion for impeachment. This action will effectively, 1.Raise the matter to national attention, 2. Place Mr. Obama on notice that his constitutional and felony violations will be pursued, 3.Halt his ability, and that of the lame duck majority party, the ability to do further damage to the nation, and 4. It will provide a conclusive rallying cry for We the People.

It matters not that a report supporting impeachment will likely fail in committee in this session of congress. The ball will be in play for an attentive consideration in the next one.

It will also place RINOs and potential RINOs on notice that they exist on borrowed time in the event they act against the peoples' demands.

Those who possess the appropriate legal knowledge and experience should immediately correspond and effect the process. TALK IS CHEAP and TIME IS SHORT

  11. MADASHELL_CA says:

What needs to be done is a national campaign for Nullification. The government is completely out of control. The Founding Fathers anticipated that this might happen and this is exactly why they set up the government like they did, vesting the states with the authority to nullify acts that were designed to vest more power in the government, to the detriment of the States. We need to use the 10th Amendmen to smack these fools upside their respective heads until they get the message.

  12. marain says:

So the UN would come back four years from now and "check up on us", huh? Let them. They'll find the White House occupied by a Conservative President, and Congress run by Conservatives in both houses. If they're not enough, the UN can talk to the rest of us.

  13. eds777 says:

It is time, once and for all, to get the UN out of the US. Barack and all of his cronies need to be included!

This seems to me to be unconstitutional for Barack to stand with a foreign governent or with the UN, against Arizona, one of our sovereign states. He should be tarred and feathered, and run out of town on a rail, along with his many czars and Democratic cronies!

I view his action as another of his efforts to encourage a civil war.

  14. bobrgeologist says:

Typical Obama reaction. He doesn't believe in protecting the rights of US citizens to protect our borders. He believes in amnesty and citizen status to these people so they can vote for him. I believe Texas has already told him where to go in this matter and that Arizona and New Mexico should follow suit because we are coming under attack by by a criminal drug smuggler. The Zeta organization has put a price on the head of a sheriff who has been arresting these unwelcome and sometimes criminal immigrants! Now our citizens are being warned to avoid certain areas near the Arizona border with Mexico. This is what we get for electing a far Left leaning wimp for president.

  15. demarree1 says:

Keep fighting Gov.Brewer, you are the only hope we have of securing the border. As far as Obama and the UN are concerned they can both go straight to HELL!

  16. Wlmitch1 says:

Clean out all the America-hating Marxists in the Government in November and beyond!
Stop the dismantling of our Liberty through this PHONY, Leftist Hope and Change!!

To obtain REAL HOPE AND CHANGE, we grass-roots Constitutional Conservatives,
Tea Party Activists, and other true American Patriots of ALL races must UNITE!
WE HAVE THE MORAL HIGH GROUND!! Get registered as Republicans in your State
if it is not too late. Educate yourselves on where each candidate stands on the issues.
Vote for ONLY grass-roots Constitutional Conservatives and Tea Party candidates
in the Republican Primary elections. VOTE OUT the RINOs, Country-clubbers, and
Republicrats – THIS MEANS VOTE THE ESTABLISHMENT CANDIDATES OUT – in the
Primaries and take our Party back! Then vote for these Republicans in November and
take our COUNTRY back! Investigations, likely impeachment, and possible arrest,
of the current administration, and others, will surely follow!! Do the same in 2012 AND
elect a REAL American Patriot for President. Only then can we fully restore this great
Nation to a Constitutional Republic with a Government OF the People, BY the People,
and FOR the People! YES WE CAN!

  17. James Bennett says:

When I heard of this early today Obama making this an International Issue is beyond belive. As far as I am concerned this cleary shows Obama is out to destroy our country his action here is another reason why he and many othere should be brought up on charges and forced out of office ASAP. JB

  18. FredandDeb says:

The last paragraph of Ben's article says: "In this report, he (Obama) appealed for international socialists to help foist his agenda on the American people. Glenn Beck‘s “Restoring Honor” rally and Brewer’s letter show he will succeed without a fight." I'm sure Ben meant he WON'T succeed without a fight! A typo? I hope so!

  19. AlvinAmbers says:

I have before and will offer again to help Jan Brewer and Arizona in any way I possibly can. Jan and the supports of SB1070 are the Patriots, and I don't know what else to call someone who openly and deliberately assails a Satate's sovereignty and rights, as well as the American Constitution itself except a TRAITOR. Plain and simple. Obama has made his allegiances perfectly clear, and the 2/3 of Americans who support Arizona should be equally unequivocating.

  20. msusapatriot says:

This has to be the straw that broke the camel's back for sure. Zero is taking ALL 22 states that want to enforce strict immigration laws. He also says those who do NOT believe he is christian are psychopaths. How much more of this crap are we going to take.

  21. Raymond says:

    The United Nations is anti-Israel & anti-American.
The intentions of the United Nations are evil.

  22. Imaforgiven1 says:

I can't even begin to imagine the further damage and havoc this president is going to wreck on this Country in the next 2 years! He's done so much damage now, that much of it will be irreversible! How dare he go to the UN, that despicable inhumane council, and complain about the U.S.! We have more truly humane policies in our country, than all the the countries, and all the years the U.N. has been in existence! This man who calls himself our president, is getting rid of our freedoms and putting us under a "One World Marxist Government" just as fast as he can! Lord, forgive this man, he knows not what he does!

  23. bargal says:

This fuc88ng guy that calls himself a leader is going down and the sooner the better. What a piece of sh-t and a no good bastard. He isn't big enough to take this country down and he will see the will of the people rise up and kick his ass all the way back to Kenya soon

  24. RobertBeaver says:

Since when is the International' s making laws for the Americans, is that in the constitution?, Who's in charge of the USA! Is our President so shallow that he can't make dessions on his own anymore.! I say Impeach the joker and put someone that has backbone to do the right thing and get all ellials the hell out of our country now, not after elections– Hell, obamma, has slingshot several bills that the people don't want. why not do that we approve of — if he can't then impeach the loser (nicest thingI could right) but if I could say what I'd like they would cencor it as to vulgar. left wing pussys

  25. youdontwannano says:

Gov. Brewer is an American hero. Obama is showing us that he is vindictive and power hungry. For an American president to persecute the Governor of any state is quite juvenile. He seems to lack common sense and appears incapable of understanding any view other than his own. Is this perhaps a manifestation of his extreme narsicism? I believe that he is making himself ridiculous. Apparently, he cannot handle domestic issues himself, but must run to the United Nations. This seems to show contempt for the U.S. judicial system as well.

  26. necee5631 says:

Go Jan Brewer! How can the rest of us help AZ? How can the rest of us get Mr. Obama out before he destroys this country. How can we tell the UN to GET THE HELL OUT?

  27. Raymond says:

    Obama is a globalist.

  28. Raymond says:

I now see that the "administrators" don't want certain facts to become public.
    How sad.

  29. blazer1994 says:

There is no way that a federal judge can over rule a state's law. Check the Constitutional Law, I dare anyone to do so. For perhaps 50 or more years this country has did all it could to lie to the people and make it appear that the federal judges have more authority than the states do. This type of brainwashing must stop. If for example Sheriff Joe was in the governor's chair he would have told Susan Bulton to go pack sand. Jan Brewer must take action to not listen to these feds. If she wants to give Sheriff Joe a position as deputy governor and allow him to respond then she should do so. I know Sheriff Jow will do the job. Please someone tell her to do this right away. We need Sheriuff Joe assisting our governor with this issue and I mean right now.
