If you have enjoyed owning a car company, you’re going to love getting voting representation in several banks nationwide. Barack Obama’s Treasury Department is already “monitoring” 19 banks and may appoint new board members. The trouble? They took TARP money and have fallen behind on their payments. Almost as troubling, the mainstream press is presenting things as though they had never been better. Zachary A. Goldfarb at The Washington Post writes:… Read the Rest of this Post

On December 18, Osama bin Laden was sitting in a cave somewhere in Pakistan laughing his jihadist ass off. That’s the day the lame-duck Congress (John Adams: Three or more worthless men are a Congress) sacrificed national security to the gods of a spurious equality.

The pro-family movement has been steadily losing ground for years, even as we piled up victory after victory at the ballot box. It’s like the title … Read the Rest of this Post

No, that’s not “Clarence the Angel” of It’s a Wonderful Life fame. The Clarence in this article is much less inspiring—a humbug, really. I’m thinking of Clarence Darrow, dogmatic defender of atheists.

As Christians this time of year absorb another spate of snipes at their revered holy day, they might pause to remember Darrow. Clarence Darrow (1857-1938) was the wise-cracking, aggressive lawyer who took on William Jennings Bryan in the 1925 … Read the Rest of this Post

When it’s nearly time to flip the calendar to January, we take stock of the past 52 weeks and look ahead. It is an annual tradition we encourage all to adopt. Why? It helps you to plan and live intentionally.

Our wish is that 2011 will be better for most Americans. While we are pessimistic in the short run, for the long term, we remain optimistic. Here’s why:

In a foretaste of outrages to come, the Obama administration managed to sneak out a federal regulation paying doctors to provide “end of life counseling” to those covered by ObamaCare. The Medicare rule, which Congress never voted on, may encourage thousands to forego lifesaving treatment. This move is a voluntary precursor to the inevitable rationing engendered by socialized medicine. Many conservative media outlets have objected to the pro-death aspects of this … Read the Rest of this Post

Democrat Neil Abercrombie “served” Hawaii in Congress for decades. During that time, he claims to have known Barack Obama as a young child, as well as his parents the elder Barack Obama and his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham. (No word whether he also knew Frank Marshall Davis, the socialist radical whom Dunham’s Hawaiian grandparents turned into a father figure for young Barry.) As Trevor Loudon has pointed out, he and Barack … Read the Rest of this Post

The Tea Party movement and its millions of supporters have high hopes that the recent elections will rein in runaway government. While I endorse this objective, accomplishing it will be far more difficult than most people realize.

The Tea Partiers will have to contend with more than just a Big-Government president and Senate. They also face well-funded, well-connected, and well-entrenched special interests, plus a public that expects the officials they … Read the Rest of this Post

And lo, there came unto me glad tidings: A Christmas tree has never committed an act of terrorism – has never beheaded a hostage (or taken hostages, for that matter), has never flown a plane into a skyscraper, has never blown up anything, and has never shot and killed 13 soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, on November 5, 2009.

So, why can’t they just leave the Christmas tree alone? Why must … Read the Rest of this Post
